Will I Want You Back come to DVD and Blu-ray?

I Want You Back is now available to stream on Prime Video. What if you prefer to own your movies on DVD and Blu-ray? Will you get the chance with this one?

If you are in a rom-com mood, there’s some great news. You can now watch I Want You Back on Prime Video.

It’s a rom-com with a bit of a twist. The two main characters aren’t really looking for love. They think they have it until the rug is pulled out from under them. After that, they’re out for revenge to prevent their former partners from moving on.

You’ll always be able to watch it on Prime Video. However, what if you don’t always want to keep your Prime Video subscription? Will you be able to own I Want You Back on DVD and Blu-ray?

I Want You Back probably won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray

Never say “never,” but there is a strong chance that I Want You Back won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray. It’s a Prime Original movie, and there’s just no need for Amazon to release it’s movies on physical disc.

By releasing the movies on disc, it takes people away from the streaming platform. The one-off purchase for the movie is not enough to justify that.

However, it will always depend on the contracts for the movie heading to Prime Video. There is a chance that the stipulation was that a DVD release would still happen. This is more for movies that were going to head to theaters but changed to streaming or those that did get a limited release in theaters first.

What about on Amazon Instant Video? This is different to Prime Video. Amazon Instant Video is where the Digital releases go to rent or purchase. It’s highly unlikely that I Want You Back will get a Digital release purely because it is a Prime Original.
