We have come to the last weekend in January, and Amazon has plenty of choices to keep you entertained. There is a massive list of great Amazon movies to choose from.
This month Amazon saw many new movies added to its catalog. Some great additions to the movie list include some older films like American Psycho, Cruel Intentions, Despicable Me, Enemy at the Gates, Napoleon, and many others. Great Amazon originals include The Tender Bar, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, and A Hero.

5 best Amazon movies for the weekend
Needle in a Timestack
The sci-fi romance Needle in a Timestack has been released on Amazon Prime. This film is based on a novel of the same title by Robert Silverberg.
In this story, time travel is common, but when Nick starts to experiment with it, things in his marriage get mixed up. The others involved don’t know that things have been altered, but Nick is very aware. What will he do next?
The film stars Leslie Odom Jr., Freida Pinto, Cynthia Erivo, Orlando Bloom, and Jadyn Wong.
Bridget Jones’s film trilogy
The Bridget Jones film trilogy is available on Amazon. The first movie, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and the final, Bridget Jones’s Baby, are available with your prime subscription. While the second movie, Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, is available to rent.
The films are based on novels by Helen Fielding about Bridget, a 30-something binge drinking, chain-smoking gal trying to get life in order. More specifically, her love life. The films follow Bridget on her journey to find love.
Renée Zellweger plays Bridget, and her leading men are Marck Darcy (Colin Firth), Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) and Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey). Additional cast includes Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones, Shirley Henderson, James Callis, Sally Phillips and Neil Pearson.
Megamind
The computer-animated superhero comedy Megamind is a fun-for-the-whole-family movie. The story tells of two sups, a supervillain named Megamind and a superhero named Metro Man. They were each sent to earth by their parents when their planets were destroyed.
It is a fun-filled movie with Will Farrell playing Megamind to Brad Pitt’s Metro Man. Megamind is a brilliant villain but highly unsuccessful. Metro Man always beats him, but that doesn’t stop him. When he finally defeats his greatest foe, he discovers he has no purpose in life.
They are joined by Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross, JK Simmons, and Ben Stiller.
Silence of the Lambs
The psychological thriller Silence of the Lambs is available to stream. This film was directed by Jonathan Demme based on a novel by Thomas Harris.
Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is an FBI trainee hunting a serial killer known as Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine). She seeks the advice of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a cannibalistic serial killer who was once a brilliant psychiatrist, to find out who Buffalo Bill is.
It is a twisted tale with outstanding performances.
The Dressmaker
The Amazon original film The Dressmaker is a comedy-drama starring Kate Winslet. The film was directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and is based on a novel by Rosalie Ham.
Winslet plays the femme fatale Myrtle Dunnage who returns to her hometown of Dungatar, Australia, to care for her ailing mother but also to seek revenge. Now a couturier-trained dressmaker who goes by the name of Tilly, she will set the town in a tizzy with her custom fashions and her acts of revenge.
