Is Nynaeve the Dragon Reborn on The Wheel of Time?
The Wheel of Time Season 1, Episode 4 brought us a couple of epic moments. One of those suggests that Nynaeve could be the Dragon Reborn.
Since the beginning of the series, Moiraine has been on one mission. She needs to find the real Dragon Reborn.
The end of The Wheel of Time Episode 3 suggested that the Dragon Reborn wasn’t one of the four she came across. Not only had her sisters come across a man wielding power who said he was the Dragon Reborn, but someone working for the Dark One said there were five potential Dragons.
Would the man the women believed was a pretender be the Dragon Reborn? It turned out not. Instead, it’s opened the potential of an Aes Sedai being the Dragon Reborn instead.
Nynaeve shows her power in The Wheel of Time Season 1, Episode 4
At the end of the episode, the Aes Sedai and their warders faced an army. That led to a battle that was an attempt to save their guy from the Aes Sedai’s hands.
It’s not like their guy needed help. He was able to fight off the Aes Sedai’s chains without much effort. It did make it look like he was the true Dragon Reborn, but Moiraine didn’t believe that. She made it clear that his whispers were ones of madness, and that the real Dragon would have power like the sun.
Well, that’s exactly what we did see. After the death of one of the Aes Sedai, her warder attacked the false Dragon. That led to many Aes Sedai and their warders being injured, including Moiraine and her warder al’Lan Mandragoran, better known as Lan. Nynaeve saw that Lan was dying due to his carotid artery being cut.
Nynaeve tried to heal him quickly, but it wasn’t working. When she realized that, she channeled extra power and a burst of white light formed around her. Everyone healed, including Lan. It was clear to Moiraine that Nynaeve had far more power than anybody realized, including Nynaeve.
This could suggest that she is the real Dragon Reborn. It could also suggest that she’s just a powerful Aes Sedai and everyone has overlooked her at this point.
