Cinderella is coming to Amazon Prime Video tonight
It’s time for a feminist take on the classic fairy tale. Cinderella starring Camila Cabello arrives on Amazon Prime Video tonight, and it really is a must-watch.
When it comes to fairy tales, there is one that has routinely been done. It’s all about Cinderella, the original rags-to-riches story. The new version starring Cabello in her acting debut will arrive on Amazon Prime Video tonight.
The official Cinderella release date is Friday, Sept. 3. It will be available by midnight local. However, Amazon’s global originals (which this is) get released at midnight GMT. That usually means an earlier-then-expected release on Amazon Prime Video in North America thanks to time zones. It’s certainly plausible for the movie to be available at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT tonight, Thursday, Sept. 2.
Is it going to be worth the watch? If you cringed at Addison Rae’s acting debut on He’s All That on Netflix, you may worry about this one. However, Cabello proves that she was born for this role and to act. She is a rising star to watch out for, and the rest of the cast is exceptional.
What is Amazon’s Cinderella about?
Don’t expect the usual rags-to-riches story in this version. All the characters get a little more development and backstory, including the wicked stepmother, played by the excellent Idina Menzel. Yes, Elsa is going to take on a meaner role.
Ella also isn’t one to just sit around and dream about her Prince Charming. She wants to be a fashion designer, and she’s willing to do what it takes for that to happen in between cleaning up after her stepmother and stepsisters.
Yes, there is the ball and there is a prince, but Ella doesn’t forget what she really wants in life. This is a story for the modern age, and you’ll want to let your young daughters watch it.
