Amazon’s Cinderella releases official trailer
By Renee Hansen
Traditional fairy tales have been told and told again, with the princesses always living happily ever after while completely dependant on their prince. In a bold move, Amazon takes one of the most beloved fairy tales, Cinderella, and throws a modern wrench into the story as we have always heard it.
Cinderella has gone from the age-old tale of the wicked stepmother, glass slippers and a girl helpless to change her situation to an empowered entrepreneur who isn’t quite sure she wants to be a royal.
This romantic musical comedy written and directed by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect) throws in some unexpected storylines along with some great pop music to make a fairy tale worthy of the modern world. Grammy Nominated Camila Cabello makes her acting debut as the titular character in this film.
She is joined by a stellar cast consisting of Nicholas Galitzine as the Prince, Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver will play the Prince’s parents, King Rowan and Queen Beatrice. Idina Menzel will add her talents as the wicked stepmother, and Billy Porter will add his fabulous flair to the role of Fab G., the Fabulous Godmother. James Corden, James Acaster, and Romesh Ranganathan make up the outrageous trio of mice-turned-footmen.

Dresses by Ella, what an amazing addition to this story. A girl who would rather follow her dreams instead of falling into the arms of a random prince she just met is a story young girls need to see.
The fact the film is also self-aware makes one smile. When Ella says, “Yes, I was just crying and singing about it two minutes ago,” when her Fabulous Godmother arrives is outstanding.
The soundtrack for this film is off the charts. Did you hear a Queen song? Yes, you did! The soundtrack to this film contains amazing pop songs like “Somebody to Love,” “Material Girl,” “Whatta Man,” “Seven Nation Army,” as well as some originals by Cabello and Menzel.
Cinderella will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Sept. 3. Don’t miss this one!
