It’s another month and there are some fabulous movies heading to Amazon Prime Video. Overwhelmed by the full list? Here are the top movies on Amazon to watch in September 2021.

The full list of arrivals can certainly be a little too much. There are 58 movies on Amazon throughout the month, with 52 of them dropping on the first day alone!

There are some of the rebooted movies heading our way this month with the likes of The Karate Kid and The Omen arriving on the first. You can also check out intriguing thrillers like The Descent and classics like Young Frankenstein.

There is something for everyone. Need a horror? Want a modern-day retelling of a fairytale classic? How about a documentary? We’ve got you covered with the top movies coming out that you simply need to check out.

5 must-watch movies on Amazon in September 2021

This list is in release date order to avoid any favoritism. After all, there are just too many genres to pick a favorite!

I Know What You Did Last Summer

While I Know What You Did Last Summer isn’t the best of the ’90s horrors, it is one worth watching on Amazon Prime Video next month. You can watch all three movies as they’re all arriving at the same time. This is the movie that the upcoming Amazon series is based on (along with the book the movie was based on). That’s the reason to watch it.

The story follows a group of teenagers who hit and kill a man on a dark highway one night. They’ve been drinking and could get in trouble, so they decide to dump the body and forget about it. Only the past doesn’t stay buried.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Cinderella

Fairytale retellings are great, especially when they right a few of the wrongs from the original time period. Fairytales are all about finding true love, but that’s not necessarily the case for Cinderella. This version includes an element for the modern-day woman: a woman who is all about the entrepreneurial spirit.

Camila Cabello stars in the titular role. Idina Menzel is the wicked stepmother and Billy Porter is Fab G. (the fabulous godparent!). This is Cabello’s acting debut, and the entire movie is a musical. It’s sure to entertain just based on the trailer alone.

Check out Cinderella on Friday, Sept. 3.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Need another fabulous movie? Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is the one you need to check out during the month. It’s based on a musical stage production as well as a true story.

Jamie is just a regular boy at school with big dreams. Those dreams aren’t so regular though. He wants to be a drag queen. With the help of his supportive mother and best friend, he goes on a mission to find a coach and deal with the naysayers and bullies out there.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Sept. 17.

The Mad Women’s Ball

Another of the original movies on Amazon you need to watch is The Mad Women’s Ball. This is a foreign-language movie that follows Eugénie, a young woman in the 19th century. She learns she can hear the dead, and when her family finds out, they send her to a neurology clinic in Paris.

The movie follows Eugénie as she faces a clinic for women diagnosed with hysteria, epilepsy, and “craziness” among other illnesses. However, can Eugénie find a way out and to survive with the help of a nurse, Geneviève?

Watch the French movie on Friday, Sept. 17.

American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally

Finally, it’s a 2021 movie that isn’t an Amazon Original. This documentary focuses on a side of history that tends to be overlooked: the Nazi propaganda. There was a lot of it during the Second World War, and Mildred Gillars was an American woman broadcasting it.

The movie looks into the hate-filled propaganda from the Third Reich. However, she was eventually captured, and there’s a look at her trial for treason after the war.

Never forget! Watch the movie on Friday, Sept. 17.
