Modern Love Season 2, Episode 5 recap: Figuring out sexuality

There’s more acceptance, but there are still a lot of fears for people figuring out their sexuality. That’s shown in Modern Love Season 2, Episode 5.

We do have more acceptance today than we’ve had in the past when it comes to different sexualities, genders, and more. Yes, there is still more work to do, but the acceptance is growing. That doesn’t mean there isn’t the fear while figuring out sexuality.

That’s something Modern Love Season 2, Episode 5 looks at. Katie is trying to figure out her sexuality, and the first we see of her is her taking a test about that. She “fails” a few times, but is it really failure?

While at school, she is attracted to a girl. The two end up becoming good friends, and that’s when things start to change.

While at an overnight event at school, Katie and Alexa go into a part that is supposed to be off-limits. It’s all about having fun, and there’s a moment between them. Katie kisses Alexa.

That changes everything. At least, Katie thinks it does and she goes as far as asking her mom to pick her up early from the event. It looks like Alexa is then avoiding her, but could there be more to it?

Eventually, Katie realizes that the best thing she can do is face her friend. She needs to pluck up the courage to say something, even if it’s just to get the friendship back.

It turns out that this kiss doesn’t have to ruin anything. Alexa feels the same way. She wants to continue to explore their relationship.

Modern Love Season 2, Episode 5 ends with a sense of hope. It ends with acceptance and that reminder that we don’t know what’s going on with other people. Honesty is important, and so is communication.
