Amazon Lord of the Rings series release date and first look photo

Fans of The Lord of the Rings will be happy to know that filming for Season 1 of the Amazon Original Series has officially wrapped. Amazon was able to negotiate with the government of New Zealand to ensure that filming for the series could take place in New Zealand, where the movies were filmed.

The series is based on the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien in his novels and is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The Tolkien Estate and Amazon have partnered to create this series and have made agreements about what Amazon can and cannot change from Tolkein’s works.
The cast and characters feature many names that will be recognized but also includes many new names. Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
The Lord of the Rings series release date
The Lord of the Rings series has wrapped filming for Season 1 and has a release date of Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. The first season will consist of eight episodes that will be released weekly. The story takes place during a peaceful time, just before evil once again settles on Middle Earth.
The series is renewed for a second season, with plans set for up to five seasons in all.
The Lord of the Rings first look photo
The first look photo has been released, and it is glorious. The shot is from the first episode of the series, but the character or actor’s name hasn’t been released. The photo is reminiscent of Rivendell, the home of the Elves.
The Lord of the Rings series synopsis
In January 2021, TheOneRing.net released the official synopsis for the series. From this description, we see that the story will unfold and include locations of the Misty Mountains, the elf-capital of Linden, and the island of Numenor.
