There is something for everyone when it comes to the movies on Amazon in August. Whether you want horror or a rom-com, you’ve got your pick.

The full list of movies coming during a month can be pretty daunting. There’s always the risk of missing out on some of the best options. That’s why we take a look at the list and pick the top releases.

Get ready for a horror from the ’70s, a spy thriller from the present day, and everything in between.

5 must-watch movies on Amazon in August 2021

Jaws

We start with the horror movies on Amazon from the ’70s. The three Jaws movies are available to stream. They need absolutely no introduction, and you’ve likely watched them thousands of times already. It’s not like they’ve never been on Amazon Prime Video before.

These classics don’t tend to remain on a streamer for long. You’ll want to make sure you tune in this month just in case they’re only around for 30 days.

My Best Friend’s Wedding

For those who are more into rom-coms, you’ll want to turn your attention to My Best Friend’s Wedding. It’s got an all-star cast including Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz.

When Julianne learns that her best friend is getting married, she realizes how much she wants him. So, she decides to do everything she can to sabotage the wedding and make his bride look like a fool. But is it that she wants him or wants what she can’t have?

My Best Friend’s Wedding is on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 1.

Val

We all know of Val Kilmer. He’s one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but how much do you really know him? That’s something Val is going to let you know.

The documentary offers an insight into Kilmer’s life and career. Some of the footage is Kilmer’s own from during his career. Other footage is home videos and footage from his childhood. It’s time to get to know him better.

Val is on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 6.

Annette

There are a few original movies on Amazon Prime Video this month. Annette is one of them, offering us a story about a stand-up comedian and an opera singer who have a baby. It doesn’t sound like all that fun, but it certainly will turn out to be.

It turns out their child has a unique gift. This is sure to turn their lives upside down.

Annette is on Amazon on Aug. 20.

The Courier

Finally, you’ll want to check out the spy thriller. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as a business man who is approached by the CIA and MI6 with an important mission. He needs to befriend a Russian spy to prevent all-out nuclear war.

It’s all set during the Cold War. One wrong move will end up with him dead and nobody knowing about it, so he needs to watch his every move.

The Courier is on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 27.
