Neil Gaiman has a lot of books that fans would love to see adapted. Anansi Boys is the one that’s getting the latest adaptation, and it’s coming to Amazon Prime Video.

STARZ opted to cancel American Gods after three seasons. While Amazon hasn’t saved the show, it has opted to bring the spin-off to series. Anansi Boys is the literary spin-off of American Gods, focusing on Mr. Nancy’s children.

Entertainment Weekly shared the news. It’s certainly interesting considering the controversy surrounding American Gods and the character of Mr. Nancy. Well, more like actor Orlando Jones.

Anansi Boys release date

There isn’t a release date just yet, but we can make a prediction. When announcing the show, we learned that it will start filming in Scotland later this year. It is also a six-episode series, which will help to keep the filming time down.

It’s possible that we’ll see the series arrive on Amazon Prime Video sometime around the end of 2022 at the latest. The time frame is going to depend on when filming actually starts. We’ll let you know more when we get a sense of that.

Anansi Boys cast

There isn’t a cast attached to the series just yet. There are a lot of fans hoping that Jones will return, but this will depend on the situation surrounding his exit from American Gods. Are things still good with him and Gaiman to work on a new series together or will Mr. Nancy be recast? Could the show skip him all together?

The series follows Mr. Nancy’s children after his death. Charlie Nancy learns that his father is none other than Anansi, the African trickster God. Now he needs to figure out how to handle that along with finding out about a long-lost brother he had no idea he had. Just how dangerous is Charlie’s life going to become?
