Will the Fear Street movies come to DVD and Blu-ray?

The Fear Street movies are certainly worth watching on Netflix. Will you ever be able to own the horror trilogy on DVD and Blu-ray?

When it comes to book series, the Fear Street novels were favorites for many of us. The R.L. Stine books brought us plenty of fun and horror, and we all wanted an adaptation of them in some sort of form. That adaptation came in the form of the trilogy recently released on Netflix.

It wasn’t quite an adaptation of the books. However, we did get to see Deena and her friends work on getting rid of the Shadyside curse. The three movies took place across three time periods, and each one brought excellent homages to various horror movies of the past.

Now you want to know if you can own all three movies at home. Will you be able to avoid the Netflix subscription by owning the three movies on DVD and Blu-ray?

The Fear Street movies probably won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray

There is some bad news. We probably won’t see the Fear Street movies come to DVD and Blu-ray. They are Netflix Original Movies, and there’s simply no need for Netflix to release movies on DVD and Blu-ray.

There are times when the movies do come out on DVD, such as Marriage Story. This is usually due to the production studio and the acquisition contract with Netflix. That probably won’t happen with Fear Street, as the movies weren’t acquired by Netflix but produced for Netflix.

By putting the movies on DVD, Netflix encourages people to avoid the monthly subscription and only pay once on DVD. It is an option for many to save money, especially if the Fear Street movies are the main reason for the subscription. However, how many people only get Netflix for one show or movie?

It would be nice if the movies came to DVD, but don’t count on it.
