Will Marriage Story come to Digital, DVD, and Blu-ray?
Netflix has a lot of excellent movies heading to its service this month. Marriage Story is one of them. Will Marriage Story come to DVD and Blu-ray?
There are some excellent movies heading to Netflix in November and December. If you don’t have or want a Netflix subscription, you’ll want to know if those movies will head to DVD. Marriage Story is one of those highly anticipated movies, but will it come to DVD and Blu-ray?
It’s a good question to ask. Some Netflix Originals certainly do head to DVD. This is usually the case for TV shows more than movies, with Fuller House and House of Cards being among the most common movies to head to DVD and Blu-ray about a year after their release on Netflix.

What about movies? Correct me if I’m wrong, but in my search, I haven’t found a Netflix Original movie head to DVD. That means Marriage Story likely won’t head to Digital, DVD or Blu-ray.
It makes sense for Netflix. The streamer will want to make as much content on its service as exclusive as possible. This keeps people paying for the subscription so that they can watch their favorite movies and TV shows.
However, Marriage Story is getting a theatrical release. It’s a limited release, but it’s still happening. Does that change anything?
Possibly. It’s all going to depend on the production company. Some production companies will insist on the traditional home video release because that’s where some of the residuals are made. However, Netflix may have arranged for a good enough deal to avoid the need for a DVD release.
I don’t think Marriage Story will come to DVD and Blu-ray. With so many streaming sites now on their way, Netflix will want to keep things as exclusive as possible and that means avoiding the DVD releases. It’s currently Certified Fresh with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97% from the critics. This sounds like a movie to check out.
