The Boys lands 5 Emmy nominations in 2021

Streaming services continue to clean up at the Emmy nominations. The 2021 nominations are out and they don’t disappoint for The Boys.

The Boys Season 2 definitely didn’t disappoint. It brought us new interesting characters, a lot of questions about exploding heads, and some Fresca. We always had hope that there would be Emmy nominations for the series in 2021.

The Emmys 2021 nominations are out, and The Boys landed five. While the actors haven’t landed individual nominations for Best Actor or Best Actress, there are other important and worthy nominations for the series.

We’re breaking down the various nominations to look at the chances of winning.

The official site currently says The Boys landed six nominations. The Sound Editing nomination is from 2020 and isn’t included in the list of 2021 nominations.

5 Emmys 2021 nominations for The Boys Season 2

The first of the nominations on the Emmys 2021 website for The Boys is for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. In case you needed to know which song got this, it’s all about the song Starlight performed at Translucent’s memorial. This song had a music video released just recently to help everyone get through the break.

It’s going up against some big shows. WandaVision, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and The Queen’s Gambit are among the other shows nominated for the award.

Of course, The Boys landed a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. We think it deserves the win, but there is some good competition. Bridgerton, Lovecraft Country, and The Handmaid’s Tale are all among the list of shows nominated for the award.

The third on the list is Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series. Like Outstanding Drama series, there are some big shows that our superhero series is going up against. We’re looking at the likes of The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Mandalorian.

Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or Movie is the fourth nomination, and one that we think The Boys stands a good chance of winning. After all, there are some epic moments throughout the series. It is going up against some big shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Lovecraft Country.

The episode “What I Know” is nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, the last nomination. There are some of the same big shows as already mentioned also nominated for this award, which will make it difficult to win. There’s a chance The Handmaid’s Tale, The Crown, or even Lovecraft Country will end up claiming victory.
