The Boys shares first image of Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy

Jensen Ackles has been on the set of The Boys Season 3 for some time, and now we get to see him as Soldier Boy for the first time.

We’ve been excited to meet Soldier Boy since we first found out the Supernatural actor would take on the role. After all, it’s Eric Kripke and Jensen Ackles reunited.

Fans finally got the first look at Soldier Boy, complete with shield. The character is a take on Captain America from the Marvel comics, so a shield really was necessary. This one is a similar shape to the original Captain America shield, but it’s decked in gold instead.

There is an eagle on the front of the shield. This isn’t surprising considering we found out the founder, Frederik Vought, was a Nazi. The eagle was a commonly used animal for the Nazi items during World War II.

Plus, Soldier Boy is one of the original Supes from the 1940s, so he fought through that time period. Is he a Nazi? The character killed a bunch of them during the war while fighting for the Americans, but, well, you never know!

A military-esque suit for Soldier Boy on The Boys Season 2

The suit itself will certainly remind you of soldiers in the military. It’s green and black, with pads on the knees and elbows for protection. There’s a utility belt and he has boots to complete the look. He’ll certainly hide in the forests when it comes to fighting.

The military look was done purposely. According to costume designer Laura Jean Shannon to Entertainment Weekly, Ackles’s suit was created with the idea of overt masculinity and grit behind it. It’s practical for a soldier, which is perfect for a character who was originally a soldier.

There are elements of the suit that connect to the comic book character. However, the two characters are not the same, and so, the suit is not directly the same.

Soldier Boy is the leader of Payback. In the TV show, Payback was the original big team of Supes before The Seven. In the comics, Payback is the secondary team with Soldier Boy as part of that team. It’s going to be interesting to see how Soldier Boy comes into it and whether he’s around to help The Seven after everything that went down in the second season.
