Is Tales from the Loop renewed for Season 2?

When it comes to sci-fi, Tales from the Loop took a different focus to bring interesting character-driven storylines. Will there be more of the series on Amazon Prime Video?

Tales from the Loop is described as an American science fiction drama. It actually became something much more.

Based on the art book of the same name by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, Tales from the Loop brought us character-driven stories of people who had run-ins with some sort of technology only thought of in the world of sci-fi.

The whole town was linked to something called The Loop, an underground facility where scientists make the impossible things happen. This includes the ability to travel through time, travel to alternate dimensions, and switch souls with others or even robots. While the sci-fi event was a start of the story, the focus was on how individuals coped with the events.

There are certainly more stories to tell. And we need beautiful and creative shows like this. So, what’s going on with the series?

As of writing this, Amazon hasn’t canceled or renewed the sci-fi series. It is one of the few 2020 shows still waiting for news.

Is there going to be a Season 2 of Tales from the Loop?

There was certainly a lot of praise for the series. However, it doesn’t look like Amazon is going ahead with another season. The first season debuted in April 2020. The longer we wait, the more likely it is that the series has been quietly canceled.

This could be linked to the cost of the series. A show that involves a lot of VFX is going to end up costing a lot. It’s also possible that the show was only ever intended to be a limited series as it did seem to bring everything to an end. Okay, so there were questions about the various characters, but the individual storylines involving the tech or the “impossible” had wrapped.

When does the new season of Tales from the Loop start?

It would take at least 12 months to get through filming and post-production. And there is still the writing and other pre-production work to do. In fact, we need a renewal first? Don’t expect Season 2 to come until mid- to late-2022 at the very earliest.
