Shadow and Bone is now available to stream, but you’re going to Netflix for it. Will it come to DVD and Blu-ray in the future?
There’s no doubt that Shadow and Bone is one of those TV shows of 2021 that you want to watch. The question is whether you want to get a Netflix subscription for it.
If you’re willing to wait, it could be worth watching out for a DVD or Blu-ray release of a series. However, this is a Netflix show. Not all of them head to DVD and Blu-ray in the future.
Is there a chance of Shadow and Bone heading to DVD? We take a look at those chances.
Shadow and Bone probably won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray
While the likes of Fuller House and The Crown have come to DVD in the past, there’s a strong chance that it won’t happen for Shadow and Bone. That isn’t to say that it never will, but it’s unlikely.
It’s usually the production studio that pushes for the DVD release if it could help financially. For example, Warner Bros. knows that DVD sales are popular, so the majority of the TV shows from the studio will head to a physical copy.
Shadow and Bone is created by 21 Laps Entertainment. This is the same production studio behind Love and Monsters and Night at the Museum, albeit with other production studios at the same time. Just because those movies have got a DVD release doesn’t mean Shadow and Bone will. The series is a Netflix Original unlike all other releases from 21 Laps Entertainment.
However, The Umbrella Academy recently surprised us with a DVD release. It’s possible that this sort of release could eventually happen, but we’re probably looking at April 2022 at the very earliest. You’ll want Netflix for this.
