The weekend is a great time to catch up on the movies on Amazon that you missed. There’s an excellent selection, including the 2018 movie Burden.

There were quite a few movies that dropped on Amazon Prime Video throughout the week. Only one of them makes it to the list for the weekend, but if you’ve got plenty of time on your hands for more movies, you’ll want to watch them. Wander and Paranormal Activity 4 could be just what you need.

This weekend, some of the Amazon Channels have movies that make your subscriptions worthwhile. There’s also a great family movie on IMDb TV that’s worth putting on this weekend. It’s time for the top five movies on Amazon for the weekend.

Burden and the 5 must-watch movies on Amazon this weekend

Burden

We start with the 2018 movie that is now on Amazon Prime Video. Burden focuses on an orphan who has grown up within the Ku Klux Klan. When his girlfriend encourages him to leave, the KKK hunts them down.

The two and the girlfriend’s son need to seek safety in a Black congregation. Are they willing to look past the background of these people and stand up against the KKK?

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

When it comes to the family, you’ll want to put on Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant. It’s a fun, supernatural-style movie that is all about, well, vampires!

Two boys head to a circus in town, where the ringmaster turns out to be a vampire. The boys need to fight for survival and make choices that they never thought they’d ever have to make. Can they both make it out without being made into the undead?

The Dark Knight Rises

Love Christian Bale’s Batman? It’s time to rewatch The Dark Knight Rises. It’s the third and final installment in the trilogy, focusing on Bruce Wayne coming out of hiding to protect the town of Gotham City against Bane.

While you’re so focused on the story of Bane, you’ll overlook the real villain in the tale. Well, you will the first time. When you watch it again, you’ll notice all the clues that were there.

You can watch the movie on HBO.

District 9

STARZ is the place to turn for the last two movies on Amazon Channels. Sometimes you need a little fun with sci-fi, which is what District 9 will offer. It offers a mixture of live-action and “found footage” style filming, telling the tale in the present day and looking back at 1982.

In this fictional world, an alien spaceship appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa, and the population of sick aliens are taken by the government to District 9. They’re forced to live in terrible conditions, and all many of them want to do is get back home. There are certainly messages that connect to the real world today (without aliens!).

The First Wives Club

The last option is a comedy. The First Wives Club follows three women who are dumped by their husbands for younger women. It’s heartbreaking, but these women bound together in an effort to get revenge.

Of course, the revenge gets over the top and hilarious. It’s one of those movies for when you’re having a bad day, week, or even year!
