Thursday Night Football is moving exclusively to Amazon Prime Video in 2023
There were rumors that it could happen, and now the rumors are coming true. Thursday Night Football will soon be exclusive on Amazon Prime Video.
It was only a couple of months ago that rumors circulated that Thursday Night Football could move to Amazon Prime Video and away from FOX. The speculation started with other sports starting to move toward streamers, so it was only a matter of time before the NFL looked at options.
That time is now. Well, almost.
Thursday Night Football will be exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from 2023, according to IGN. The deal is going to last for 10 years. Not all Thursday games will be available, similar to the situation right now.
Which Thursday Night Football games will air on Amazon Prime Video?
Amazon will get the chance to stream 15 of the games exclusively. There are no broadcast networks involved, however, local networks will get the chance to show the games when its their team playing.
Along with 15 of the main season games, Amazon will get one of the pre-season games. The Thanksgiving football game is not going to be included in this package.
This is only for Thursday Night Football. Sunday and Monday football will continue to air on the broadcast networks and ESPN.
The Super Bowl will remain on the networks and ABC has now been added into that rotation.
It will be a big change for some who are used to watching on FOX on Thursday nights. However, Amazon Prime Video has already aired the games and offers a few advantages including the X-Ray option to learn more about the game and the players.
