Carnival Row Season 2 is happening, but there’s not much information available other than that. It’s time to look at what we do know so far.

While we don’t know too much at this time, you’ll want to bookmark this post. It’s the hub of everything that we do know about the series.

There is a little bit of good news. While filming of the series was shut down in March 2020, the cast did get to return during the summer. With only two weeks left to film, that filming has now wrapped. The show is in post-production, which means we shouldn’t be waiting too long for a release date.

Here’s what we do know about Carnival Row Season 2 so far.

Carnival Row Season 2 release date

There isn’t a release date yet, but there’s a strong chance the show will arrive in 2021. We could see a spring or summer 2021 release date, which will be exciting news for many.

Will it get a weekly release date? That’s something Amazon has moved into with The Boys and The Expanse. It’s worth pointing out that the weekly releases is better for the longevity of the show, and it was from a creative decision that they happened. It’s got nothing to do with Amazon wanting more money for subscriptions—after all, don’t most people pay per year to save because they get Amazon Prime as well?

Considering the cost to make this show, there’s a chance the creative team may ask for a weekly release. This helps to keep the show in the public eye for longer and could help to gain many more seasons in the future.

There was talk of releasing the season in two halves. That doesn’t sound like it’s going to happen now since the cast and crew managed to get back to filming so quickly last year.

Carnival Row Season 2 cast

The majority of the first season cast is likely to return. That means we’ll see:

  • Orlando Bloom as Rycroft Philostrate
  • Cara Delevingne as Vignette Stonemoss
  • Tamzin Merchant as Imogen Spurnrose
  • David Gyasi as Agreus Astrayon
  • Andrew Gower as Ezra Spurnrose
  • Karla Crome as Tourmaline Larou
  • Arty Froushan as Jonah Breakspear

Considering the way things ended in the first season, we probably won’t see Jared Harris or Indira Varma return as Absalom Breakspear and Piety Breakspear respectively.

With some of the characters heading to a new world and others stuck in a ghetto, there is plenty of room for more characters to be introduced.

Carnival Row Season 2 trailer

There isn’t a trailer just yet for Carnival Row Season 2. We’ll likely get a teaser trailer first and then a full trailer closer to the release date.

Carnival Row Season 2 synopsis

There’s no synopsis just yet, but it is possible to work out what could happen based on the events of the first season finale. After all the murders in the area, the government ordered all magical creatures to be segregated from the rest of the people. Philo made it known that he was half magical creature and he went into the ghetto with Vignette.

We’ll see more of what this segregation means. It will certainly speak volumes of things that have happened in our own pasts, but with magical creatures instead of non-white people.

Meanwhile, Imogen and Agreus sailed to a new place out of safety concerns. They got out just before the lockdown came, although their ship was ordered back. They refused to return, but will they be able to get to safety before someone goes after them?
