Truth Seekers canceled: Nick Frost confirms no renewal for the series
It is a very sad day indeed. Nick Frost took to Instagram to share the disappointing news that Truth Seekers is canceled after just one season.
There is not going to be a second season. TVLine reported that Frost announced the cancellation of the horror-comedy in a since-deleted Instagram video. The video made it clear that Amazon is not going ahead with the series, and Frost isn’t happy about that.
Honestly, I’m not either. This was an excellent horror-comedy, that brought some heartfelt stories mixed in with the ghosts and supernatural events. Not only did it offer us the storytelling that we’ve come to know and love when it comes to Frost and Simon Pegg teaming up, but it also brought some inclusive and positive stories.
So, why isn’t the series getting a second season? All we can do is speculate.
Truth Seekers may not have got enough viewers
Amazon doesn’t tend to share why a show doesn’t move forward. However, it’s usually to do with the viewership. One of two things likely happened:
- The show didn’t get enough viewers from the start
- Not enough people who tuned in watched it to the end of the season
If there aren’t enough viewers to the end of a season, streaming networks tend to cancel shows. There’s too much of a risk to create more content.
Whatever the reason, it’s a sad one. After all, it’s not like there weren’t any more stories to tell. Truth Seekers Season 1 left us with plenty of questions and potential for storylines. It feels like the bigger story was only just beginning.
Now we have a lot of questions that will never be answered. Could another streaming platform save it? It’s unlikely to happen, but we could always ask the question, right?
