One Night in Miami is coming to Amazon Prime Video tonight
Here’s all you need to know about One Night in Miami on Prime Video tonight
If you’re looking for something to watch tonight, Amazon Prime Video has you covered. One Night in Miami will be available to stream.
The movie is officially set for release on Friday, Jan. 15. It’s a global original, which means a lot of great news for those in North America. The drop happens at midnight GMT, which means we’re looking at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Thursday, Jan. 14 for the movie to arrive.
Plenty of global Amazon Originals have followed that pattern recently, so it’s something we can rely on. If it’s not available, it will be by midnight in your local area, but I suspect it will be earlier.
What is One Night in Miami about?
Regina King makes her feature film directorial debut in this epic masterpiece. It stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Malcolm X, Eli Goree as Muhammad Ali, Aldis Hodge as Jim Brown, and Leslie Odom Jr. as Sam Cooke.
These four real-life friends meet up for one night in Miami to where they come together to celebrate Muhammad Ali’s surprise win against Sonny Liston. However, the topic of conversation moves onto something else.
It’s set in the 1960s, an important time for activists looking for change and equality.
It is based on a play of the same name by Kemp Powers. That does lead to some limitations, but King finds a way to make the most of those limitations and turn this movie into a powerful and haunting reminder of the past.
And while the conversation is fictionalized, there’s no way these four men didn’t come together in real life to talk about these important topics that still resonate today.
Pay attention to the song “Speak Now.” It was co-written by Leslie Odom Jr and Nashville songwriter Sam Ashworth.
