There are only four Amazon Originals joining Prime Video in January 2021

We’re getting to the point where streamers are feeling the effect of not filming in the pandemic. Amazon Prime Video is a little quiet where Amazon Originals are concerned in January 2021, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch.

It’s all about quality not quantity, and Amazon Prime Video has plenty of the former. The four Amazon Originals that are arriving offer something for everyone.

It’s time to break down the four additions. We’ll do this in release order.

Herself

The month starts with a new Amazon Originals movie. Herself stars Clare Dunne as Sandra, a woman who gets out of an abusive marriage to protect her children. Now she needs to get a house for her children, but it’s not easy with little money.

When she finds out that she could build a house of her own, she gathers some friends around to help her. However, her dream is stopped in its tracks thanks to the government and her abusive ex.

Herself is on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 8, 2021.

One Night in Miami

Next up is a movie that focuses on four important figures in the 1960s. You’ll know the names of each and every one of them, and the movie stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Malcolm X, Eli Goree as Muhammad Ali, Aldis Hodge as Jim Brown, and Leslie Odom Jr. as Sam Cooke.

Regina King makes her feature directorial debut, and it was the first movie at Venice Film Festival by a Black woman.

One Night in Miami follows the four men as they meet one night in, well, Miami. It’s a fictionalized event of the meeting, which sees the four focus on what they can do to help push the civil rights movement forward and everything that’s to come after that.

One Night in Miami is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 15.

Flack Season 1

The next one of the Amazon Originals is a show that originally aired on PopTV but was abruptly canceled. Amazon saved the series back in June 2020, and now we get to see that first season.

The series stars Anna Paquin as Robyn, a PR professional who is all about making her clients look squeaky clean. Whatever her clients do, she will make sure only the best side of them shows in the public. However, it means possibly selling her own soul to get the job done.

While Robyn’s job is completely in control, her personal life isn’t. She can’t figure out how to get that in order.

Flack Season 1 is available on Jan. 22 on Amazon Prime Video.

Jessy & Nessy new episodes

Finally, it’s a TV show for the preschoolers out there. New episodes of Jessy & Nessy are coming to Amazon Prime Video.

The show needs little introduction. Your kids have probably aleady binge-watched the episodes already available, and watched them over and over again since! For those who haven’t caught it yet, it follows a young girl and her Loch Ness Monster friend as they explore the world and teach preschoolers some fascinating subjects.

Get ready for more adventures on Jan. 22.
