Tales from the Loop

Next up is a show from April 2020. It premiered on April 3, 2020, and we haven’t heard a peep about it since.

I don’t think we will hear a peep about it, and it’s been quietly brought to an end.

The series was based on a book of the same name by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag. Everyone in one town is somehow connected to a place called The Loop. Most people work there or are employed by the people who run The Loop.

And The Loop has made some sci-fi events come to life. People can switch bodies, they can travel to different dimensions, and they can disappear into thin air.

But it wasn’t a sci-fi story. Tales from the Loop was a people story. It was character-driven, with the science fiction events simply the catalyst for a bigger tale. In some cases, it showed how people would deal with the disappearance of their mother. In other cases, it showed how people would react if they went to a different dimension.

The show ended in a way that doesn’t require more content. In fact, it ended in a way that suggested the show was a miniseries rather than the first season of what could have been something more.

It’s why I don’t think Amazon will say anything about Tales from the Loop, but that a second season isn’t happening.
