American Gods Season 3 premiere date, cast, trailer, synopsis, and more
What we know about the American Gods Season 3 premiere date, cast, and more
It’s not long now until American Gods Season 3 premieres. You can watch it this weekend in the U.S., although those internationally are waiting until Monday.
It’s okay; this season is more than worth the wait!
And it has certainly been a wait. The season has been in the works since 2019 (with the writing starting a year ago!) and has been through a few showrunner changes since then. It’s been shrouded in controversy throughout that time, too. But fans of the Neil Gaiman novel will want to see how it all plays out, especially since this season is set to return more faithful to the books.
So, let’s delve into what we know about American Gods Season 3, including where and when to watch.
American Gods Season 3 premiere date
The official premiere date is Sunday, Jan. 10. New episodes will be available to stream at 8/7c on the channel.
If you have the STARZ App, which you will do when you get it through Amazon Channels, you’ll be able to watch from midnight. Delve right into the next chapter in Shadow Moon’s story.
The episodes are released weekly on Sundays, which is standard for STARZ.
American Gods Season 3 release date on Amazon Prime Video
If you live outside the United States, you’ll need Amazon Prime Video in your local area for the season. This includes Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and everywhere in between.
New episodes will be released at midnight on Monday, Jan. 11. Like on STARZ, it’s getting a weekly release. That’s been standard for the show.
American Gods Season 3 cast
The majority of the cast from American Gods Season 2 is back. There is one notable exit, which was made extremely public throughout 2020.
Orlando Jones is not returning as Mr. Nancy. You can ready about why at Den of Geek.
After the storyline the second season followed, it’s unlike that Pablo Schreiber will be back as Mad Sweeney.
We will still have:
- Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon
- Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday
- Emily Browning as Laura Moon
- Yetide Badaki as Bilquis
- Bruce Langley as Technical Boy
- Crispin Glover as Mr. World
- Omid Abtahi as Salim
- Peter Stormare as Czernobog
- Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis
- Devery Jacobs as Sam Black Crow.
Ashley Reyes is joining as a series regular. Her character, Cordelia, is a rebellious college dropout who is facing a mountain of debt and legal bills. Mr. Wednesday offers to wipe them out and she crosses the country with him to help with the “tech stuff.” Of course, she has no idea what’s really going on like Shadow Moon didn’t at first.
Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon will guest star in the third season as a “good-natured leprechaun” called Liam Doyle. Ramsey Bolton as a good character, really? Well, if you’ve seen Misfits, you’ll know that Rheon can do both good and evil.
Also joining the cast are:
- Dominique Jackson as Ms. World
- Eric Johnson as Lakeside’s Chief of Police Chad Mulligan
- Marilyn Manson as Johan Wengren
- Blythe Danner as Demeter
- Herizen Guardiola as Oshun

There’s also been a sneak peek for the first episode released. Shadow Moon may no longer be with Mr. Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean Mr. Wednesday isn’t looking out for Shadow Moon.
Shadow, now known as Mike, helps an elderly woman get back home. She talks about her husband, sharing all the good things first, and then goes into the cheater and liar that he was. This isn’t just any elderly lady. Watch the sneak peek to find out what’s going on:
