5 must-watch movies on Amazon this weekend: The High Note and more
The High Note is one of the must-watch movies on Amazon this weekend
The weekend of New Year is often a time when the holiday blues start to sink in. You know it’s back to work as normal. That makes the must-watch movies on Amazon this weekend all the more important.
You want something fun and light-hearted. You need something that is designed to entertain. That’s why we’ve picked the top movies of the weekend on our list, offering something for just the adults and something for families.
Here are the five must-watch movies on Amazon this weekend.
The High Note
We start with one that you’ll need an Amazon Channels subscription for. It’s not that there isn’t enough content on Amazon Prime Video, but it’s just that this one is perfect for entertainment. The High Note showcases Tracee Ellis Ross’s talent so superbly that you’re going to want to check it out.
At the same time, you may not want to think too much as you get ready for returning to work on Monday. So, this is a great movie that you can just sit back and relax with.
The Dark Crystal
Need something for the whole family? STARZ has you covered here. It’s another movie you’ll need Amazon Channels for, but you’ll want to get that ready for American Gods Season 3 next week anyway.
The Dark Crystal is the epic tale of good versus evil. It’s all done with puppets, and it’s a fun and wild ride for the entire family. Once you’ve finished, you can turn your attention to The Dark Crystal‘s prequel on Netflix.
Legion
Now it’s time for the must-watch movies on Amazon Prime Video, and it all starts with Legion. Paul Bettany stars as the archangel Michael, who is on Earth to protect a waitress’s unborn child. The diner is suddenly surrounded by demons that want the baby for their own needs, and Michael is their last hope.
This is certainly a movie when you want to see Bettany in an outstanding role. The movie is relatively underrated, especially by critics. Take the time to watch it while there’s no risk financially to see if you like it.
The Last of the Mohicans
The 1992 movie The Last of the Mohicans is worth a watch. Not only is it relatively fair to its history, but it’s also got some excellent action sequences. You’ll fail to miss all the ironies within the story, though, such as Britain and France warring over land that doesn’t even belong to them!
This movie focuses on a battle within colonial America. Hawkeye and his Mohican scouts lead a charge to protect Cora, a British officer’s daughter, in the middle of the battle. There is a lot of heart within the action.
Salt
Finally, we have Salt, starring Angelina Jolie. Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a woman who is accused of attempting to assassinate the Russian president. Instead of facing the charges, she flees in an attempt to prove her innocence. Of course, that makes her look far more guilty than she may be.
But is she guilty? Was this her plan and it’s all come out before it’s the right time? You’ll need to watch the whole way through to figure out if you can trust our lead protagonist or not.
