American Dirt reenters the list of most sold Amazon books last week

It’s that time of year where the lists of “best books of the year” come out. That’s certainly clear when you look at the list of most sold Amazon books last week.

Parents are also still looking for Christmas gifts for their children. Books are popular this year according to the most sold list. Let’s dive into the notable mentions.

American Dirt reenters the list

One of the biggest notable mentions is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. After being knocked off the list, the book returned in style. It reentered in second place, making it clear you should never count a book out.

Ready Player Two by Earnest Cline continued to hold the top spot. That’s not surprising as there were plenty of people excited about the release of the sequel.

John Grisham’s A Time for Mercy climbed four places to get back into the Top 5 last week. It was surrounded by children’s books.

Plenty of children’s books on the most sold Amazon books list

As we get close to Christmas, parents are looking out for the best gifts for their children. Books are extremely popular, especially this year as more families will be stuck inside.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End by Jeff Kinney gained two spots to get back into the Top 3, while If Animals Kissed Good Night by Ann Whitford Paul gained seven spots to get back into the Top 5.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss saw the biggest climb of the week (excluding the reentry). It gained 11 spots on the list. Dog Man: Grime and Punishment by Dav Pilkey gained two spots to get into eighth place.

In fact, Pilkey had two books on the list. Cat Kid Comic Club made it to the list in 11th place for the first time. I get the feeling this may move up the list as more parents hear about it. Kids love Pilkey’s graphic novels.

We also can’t overlook Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Illustrated entering the list for the first time. It was released a while ago, but it looks like parents are finally buying it for their children. Or there may be Harry Potter fans out there who are finally adding the books to their collection.
