We find out Dot’s backstory on The Wilds Season 1, Episode 3

Day Three on the island sees the retrieval of the black box on the flight, while we get Dot’s backstory. Here’s a look at everything that happened on The Wilds Season 1, Episode 3.

The stress is starting to get to some of the characters, but the focus is still on getting the word out there that they’re stranded on this island. When a storm hits, some also realize they need to find shelter.

Dot’s story on The Wilds Season 1, Episode 3

Dot opens the episode dancing around what looks like a bunker the girls are staying in. She’s having fun, ordering all sorts of food she wouldn’t usually have and is more than willing to share what happened during Day Three on the island.

We also get a look at her life before the island. Her father had a terminal illness, and she helped to take care of him. She would take his drugs and sell them to the kids at school, which was how she knew that Shelby’s boyfriend was cheating on her.

The last Christmas with her dad is when he gives her a gift of a postcard to Hawaii. He’s booked Dot on a camp. Dot can’t accept the gift, knowing that she can’t leave her dad alone, even if he has the in-home nurse Mateo to help.

However, it’s clear her dad doesn’t have much longer. When he dies, Dot phones the woman on the business card he left her. It’s Gretchen, the woman who is running the show at Dawn of Eve. Dot meets with her at the end and offers to help with something as long as she can stay out of foster care for the time being.

What is Dot helping with? What does she know?

Finding shelter, getting the black box

During Day Three on The Wilds Season 1, Episode 3, a bag washes ashore. It has the ID of who the girls assume is the pilot. Dot quickly goes through the bag to find medical items that they need, including oxycodone for Martha. That will help with the sprained ankle she sustained in the crash.

Rachel, Nora, and Leah head out to the sea to where the wreckage dropped. They need to get to the wreckage to find out if there’s anything that can help. It’s the part of the plane that has the kitchen, which means there are some useful items, including more pop. At least they have something to drink!

Rachel and Leah also find the black box. It takes a few attempts and a lot of shouting at Leah to “dig deep” but the two eventually get the box.

After their first vote on the island, the girls decide to open the box. Dot finds the recording that was left behind, which includes the moment the plane went down. There was an incident. This wasn’t how all this was supposed to play out.

As Rachel, Nora, and Leah search for the wreckage, Dot and Shelby head out to find shelter. There was a terrible storm one night, and it’s clear they need shelter to survive. Rachel doesn’t want to make a home there, but they won’t survive the elements.

While out there, Dot and Shelby learn a little more about each other and their skills. Dot learns that Shelby has dentures, and she promises to keep that quiet. Dot knows what it’s like to have secrets that you want nobody to know.

After an incident with a snake, Dot breaks. All of her feelings that she didn’t know she was holding back come out. She’s devastated at the loss of her dad, angry with the world, terrified of everything that’s going on. It’s heartbreaking to watch the girl trying to remain strong completely break.

In the end, they do find a cave. Does this mean shelter for the girls?
