Lovers Rock is one of the 5 must-see movies on Amazon this weekend

There are some excellent movies on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Channels to watch. Now is the time to check out the biggest releases. It’s time to look at the five must-see movies on Amazon this weekend.

There are two Amazon Originals worth checking out. The other three options are available with Amazon Channels, just recently added to the various services. The aim is to offer something for everyone, whether you want a wartime masterpiece or a family-friendly movie.

Here are five must-see movies on Amazon Prime Video this weekend.

Small Axe: Lovers Rock

We start with one of the Amazon Originals on the service. The second movie in the Small Axe series dropped on Prime on Nov. 26. Lovers Rock is a chance to see beautiful Black love. Steve McQueen does it again, bringing romance, complicated characters, and tough situations together.

One night in the 1980s will lead to romance, violence, heartache, and more. You don’t want to miss out.

1917

It’s time for the wartime masterpiece. 1917 is set toward the tail end of the First World War, involving a mission that would make or break the war. Two British soldiers are given what seem to be impossible orders. They need to get into enemy territory to deliver a message that could save 1,600 of their fellow men.

One of those behind enemy lines is the brother of one of the soldiers with the task. Will they be able to carry out their mission to save lives and end the war?

Into the Woods

For those looking for a family movie, there are two must-see movies on Amazon this weekend. The first is Into the Woods with an all-star cast that includes Anna Kendrick and James Corden.

It’s a retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood tale, packed with music, thrilling moments, and romance. Children will love to sing along time and time again.

Call of the Wild

The other family movie is the Harrison Ford-led movie Call of the Wild. This is one of those full of adventure and love. After a dog his stolen from his California home and taken to the depths of the Yukon, this dog needs to figure out how to survive. He ends up on a journey of a lifetime, building a bond with an unlikely friend.

Could one of the worst things to happen to this dog end up being the best event of his life? Will he find his true place in the world? Get together around the TV this weekend to see.

You’ll just have to wait until Sunday to do so.

Uncle Frank

Finally, it’s all about the second Amazon Original to check out this weekend. Uncle Frank is now available to stream. Paul Bettany stars as the titular character, a man who ends up on a road trip with his niece and his partner. What nobody knows is that his partner is a man. Frank is gay, and this movie is set in the 1970s.

The journey is all to head to his father’s funeral, a man he had little in common with. Will this journey give him a chance to be honest with everyone? Will it help him heal from a lifetime of pain? It’s a heartfelt journey of love and acceptance.
