A look at the most read Amazon books for the week starting Oct. 18

For weeks, Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun has claimed the top spot on the list of most read Amazon books. That’s not the case this week. What would take over?

There isn’t much change in the overall Top 5. While Midnight Sun was knocked off the top spot, it was by books not far behind it. All three Harry Potter books that have sat in the Top 5 for weeks have taken back the Top 3 spots, knocking the Twilight retelling to fourth place.

Jim Butcher did lose seven places, being knocked out of fifth place. The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett gained a spot, instead, finally getting into the Top 5.

Butcher’s novel was the biggest mover on the list. However, there were some other notable movers. Trouble Blood by J.K. Rowling under her Robert Galbraith penname dropped three places to be knocked out of the Top 10. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens lost another spot, narrowly holding onto a place in the Top 15. The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet and The Guest List by Lucy Foley were both knocked out of the Top 15.

There were two new books on the list of most read Amazon books. The Searcher by Tana French entered in 14th place, while John Grisham’s newest novel, A Time for Mercy entered in sixth place.

Will they move up or down this week? It’s always hard to tell. We thought Nicholas Sparks’s novel The Return would move up, but instead, it lost two places to move into 20th place on the list this week.
