Will Netflix’s Rebecca get a DVD and Blu-ray release?

Rebecca is the latest book to get another adaptation. Netflix’s remake is now available, but you may want to watch it on DVD and Blu-ray. Will that be possible?

It’s hard to say whether a Netflix movie will definitely get a DVD release or not. Some of them do, but it’s not often the case. It all depends on the production studio.

We’ve seen a lot of Netflix original shows get DVD release dates. The Crown has come to DVD and Blu-ray in the past, Fuller House gets a DVD release date each year, and The Kominsky Method recently got a release. So, what about Rebecca starring Lily James?

It’s certainly possible that Rebecca will come to DVD

Looking at the production studio, a DVD release is certainly possible. Working Title Films is behind Rebecca, which has also produced the likes of Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightly, YesterdayThe Theory of Everything, and much more.

The production company will know the power of DVD and Blu-ray releases. To make the money back from the film, especially since it only got a week’s theatrical window in the UK, the DVD release may be necessary.

However, Netflix is the distributing company. This company can have a huge say over whether DVD releases happen. Netflix won’t want its movies to head to DVD and Blu-ray if it can help it. With so many streaming services, keeping as much as possible exclusive on Netflix is important. This could be one of those cases.

We’ll certainly keep an eye out for a DVD release date. If this does happen, don’t expect it for about a year, so we’re looking at October 2021.
