Amazon Video: 5 Digital releases happening this week [Aug. 31-Sept. 4]
All 5 movies heading to Amazon Video between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4
It’s been relatively quiet in the world of Digital releases over the last few months. That’s not surprising with movies not heading to theaters. Things will soon start picking up, and we’re starting with Amazon Video releases from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.
There are five movies set for release throughout the week. Four of them are releases either straight to VOD or movies from a while back that are finally getting DVD release dates.
One of the movies is a release hitting both VOD and theaters, while things start to get back to some sort of normalcy—whatever normal is going to look like now.
Movies on Sept. 1
Four movies will be released on Sept. 1. There are two notable releases.

The first is The Wind Rises, an anime that you need to check out immediately. The PG-13 movie focuses on Jiro, who can’t reach his dream of being a pilot because of his eyesight. Instead, he focuses on aeronautical engineering to become one of the leading plane designers of his time. The movie is inspired by true events, starting in 1927 but taking us through the great depression, the Kanto earthquake, and World War II.
The second movie of the day is horror movie Z. When a shy young boy makes an imaginary friend, his parents are just happy that he’s being inventive. However, his behavior takes a turn for the worst. It’s soon clear this imaginary friend may not be as imaginary as his parents thought after all!

The last movie of the week is The Owners, starring Game of Thrones‘s Maisie Williams. A group of teenagers thing they’ve found the perfect home to break into. It’s a “sitting duck,” with a safe that promises to hold fortunes. The teens decide to wait for the elderly owners to come back.
What if the owners aren’t as frail as expected. The group of invaders soon realize that they’re the prey and not the predators after all.
