Trump and race continue to dominate the list of most read nonfiction Amazon books

The Room Where It Happened flew to the top of the list of most read nonfiction Amazon books last week. Meanwhile, a popular baby book joined the list for the very first time.

John Bolton’s book made it to the top of the list of most sold books the previous week. It was only a matter of time before it made it to the top of the most read list. The book is a White House memoir, focusing on the Trump Administration. With everything happening right now and the upcoming election, it makes sense that the book has become so popular.

The addition did mean that Robin J. Diangelo’s White Fragility was knocked off the top spot. It dropped a place, along with How to Be an Antiracist and Becoming.

Most of the list saw the movement of books between themselves. As Educated by Tara Westover gained a spot, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah dropped a place. Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari gained two places, while James Clear’s Atomic Habits lost three places.

There is one notable new addition. The Big Board First 100 Words by Roger Priddy entered the list for the first time. This is one of the most popular books bought, but these types of books don’t tend to make the list of most read books. That’s because this list only counts through ways Amazon can track, like Audible and Kindle. More parents seem to be moving into digital versions of books for their children.

The biggest mover was Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell, which lost six places to drop into 18th place. The whole bottom of the list was made up of books moving down.
