There isn’t long to wait to own the full first season of His Dark Materials on DVD and Blu-ray. The season will be released in two months, and here’s all you need to know.

His Dark Materials Season 1 is on DVD and Blu-ray from Aug. 4, 2020. You can already pre-order the DVD and Blu-ray through Amazon, where you’ll grab the Price Guarantee. There’s no need to pay anything more than the lowest price up to the release date. If you get the Blu-ray, you’ll also get the Digital code, so you can watch it whenever you want.

For those who can’t wait for the DVD and Blu-ray release or if you know you prefer to stream it from your phone or cast to your TV, there’s some great news. You can already buy the first season on Digital. Of course, it’s also still available to stream with your HBO subscription and always will be.

What’s included with the DVD and Blu-ray?

It’s not 100% clear what you’ll get with the boxset, but in the majority of cases, there are exclusive featurettes, deleted scenes, and gag reels. These are likely to be included with the His Dark Materials DVD set.

HBO doesn’t keep as much exclusive to the service like Netflix and Amazon. A lot of this is because HBO continues to make money directly with the DVD releases. Also, His Dark Materials is a BBC One production in the UK, which will release the DVD boxset. It makes more sense to offer equal releases around the world.
