There are high chances that you’re looking for something new to watch right now. Amazon Prime Video has your back with the release of The Goldfinch. The movie is now streaming on for free with your Prime membership.
The Goldfinch stars Ansel Elgort as Theodore “Theo” Decker. Oakes Fegley plays the younger version of the character. It’s a beautiful tale of a 13-year-old boy who has to figure out how to move forward in life after the untimely death of his mother. She is killed during the Metropolitan Museum of Art bombing, and all Theo has is a painting called The Goldfinch.

Theo takes the painting because an older man tells him to. It’s a connection to his mother, but also one of the few remaining Carel Favritius paintings left, and Theo has to hide it in his apartment.
The Goldfinch is based on the novel of the same name by Donna Tartt, but don’t expect a clean adaptation. There are bumps in the road, which led to many critics rating the movie low. However, audiences adored it, and sometimes (most of the time), that’s all that matters when it comes to the enjoyment of a movie.
This certainly is a surprising release on Amazon Prime Video. As a Warner Bros. movie, it was expected to head to HBO or even HBO Max later this month. However, Amazon grabbed the rights for the U.S. release.
