We’ll start with the show that is only available through Amazon Channels. You’ll need to get a CBS All Access subscription to check out the two seasons of Instinct. It’s more than worth the subscription.
Alan Cummings stars as a former CIA operative who is pulled back into the world of crime. Friends at the NYPD need his help to solve a murder case. Of course, he just can’t possibly say no.
Unlike Bosch, the series follows a procedural element. Each episode focuses on a different case for Cummings’s Dr. Dylan Reinhart to figure out. While he does that, he also needs to live his everyday life as a professor.
For those who are still looking for how it could possibly make a great alternative to your favorite Michael Connelly adaptation, Instinct is a series based on a James Patterson novel. You’ll want to check out “Murder Games” by the infamous author.
Outside of being similar to Bosch, this is just a series you want to check out in general. It’s excellently written and pushes the boundaries, especially for a CBS show. The crime drama features an openly gay male as the lead who is married to a man.
Sadly, the show was canceled after two seasons. They’re more than worth checking out.
