Scoob! is skipping theaters: Can you watch on Amazon Video?
If you and your kids were looking forward to seeing Scoob! in May, there is some good news. It’s skipping the theaters and coming straight to the home.
Scoob! is one of those animated movies that parents were looking forward to taking their kids to. Not set for release until May, at first it looked like the theaters would be open. Now it doesn’t look possible, but Warner Bros. isn’t stopping you from watching the movie.
Like Trolls World Tour, Warner Bros. has opted for an unconventional release of the movie. Scoob! is skipping theaters, and it will head straight to home video. Like Trolls World Tour, it’s going to be available to rent digitally, with the purchase option and DVD and Blu-ray releases coming later.

According to Deadline, the release date is set to be the same. Instead of heading to theaters on May 15, you’ll be able to rent the movie through Amazon Video, Google Play, and your other favorite digital platforms. Grab some popcorn on your next grocery shop, create a trail mix, and grab the pop. It’s time to bring the theater to your home.
Unlike the Universal animated family movie, there are no plans to bring Scoob! to any theaters. Even if the theaters manage to open by mid-May, Scoob! will remain a digital rental option. You’ll be able to rent for $19.99 and it will be available for 48 hours to watch.
What does this mean for other upcoming Warner Bros. movies? In the Heights has already been pushed to 2021. The same is likely to happen to Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984 unless the theaters reopen in the summer. However, Warner Bros. will likely want to play it safe and push the releases.
It makes sense to opt for the digital release for Scoob!, which likely wouldn’t have seen the same audience as other Warner Bros. flicks. It also gives parents something for their kids to watch, and Universal proved that releasing on Digital isn’t a bad idea.
Will Scoob! come to Amazon Prime Video in the future? As a Warner Bros. movie, probably not. HBO Max will be released on May 27 and the movie will likely end up there. It’s not clear yet whether HBO Max will be available as an Amazon Channel add-on just yet.
