My Spy is coming to Amazon Prime Video but not yet

My Spy will head to Amazon Prime Video for streaming. Amazon has acquired the streaming rights, but when will you get to watch it?

There were a lot of questions about where My Spy would stream in the future. Amazon has landed the rights to it, so we’ll see the action comedy on Amazon Prime Video. It’s just not going to be right away.

Already released in Canada and other parts of the world, My Spy is a fun movie that’s made for pure enjoyment. The U.S. was originally supposed to get it in March, but it was delayed to April 17 when the coronavirus pandemic began and started shutting movie theaters down. Now, it’s not clear when or how the movie will be released.

It’s possible that STX will opt for VOD release on April 17. This is the way that many studios are releasing movies still, with Trolls 2 out right now. However, it’s also possible that the release date will be pushed back again.

Either way, My Spy will get to Amazon Prime Video in the future. Deadline shares that Amazon gained the streaming rights for the STX movie, but didn’t share when the streaming date would be. It’s clear that nobody has this date just yet.

Most movies will take eight to 12 months to head from theater to streaming. Without a theatrical release, it’s much harder to determine a streaming release date.

Looking at a report from Variety, it looks like the movie isn’t even heading to theaters now. It will head straight to Amazon Prime Video at a later date.

The PG-13 movie is going to be a fun one for the majority of the family. It follows Dave Bautista as a CIA operative who finds himself at the mercy of nine-year-old Sophie. She finds out that the CIA agent as hidden cameras all over her apartment and threatens to tell his bosses if he doesn’t teach her all the ways of being a spy.

You just know what he decides to do. It wouldn’t be an action comedy without his next moves.
