Sonic the Hedgehog coming to Digital in March, DVD in May

With the movie theater shutdowns, Sonic the Hedgehog is getting an earlier-than-expected Digital release date. It’s coming to DVD in May.

Sonic the Hedgehog was proving to be one of the greatest video game adaptations made, especially after the initial complaints over the CGI. With the shutdowns of theaters around the world, the financial outlook hasn’t been positive, but there’s great news for those who wanted to watch it.

Sonic is heading to Digital earlier than we all expected. You’ll be able to buy on Amazon Video, iTunes, and other digital stores from Mar. 31. You can currently pre-order on Amazon Video, which will lock in the Amazon Price Guarantee up to the release date.

What about those who would like it on physical DVD or Blu-ray in the future? We’re going to be waiting a little longer for that, but it’s actually about the expected timeframe. Sonic the Hedgehog will be on DVD and Blu-ray from May 19. You can pre-order on Amazon, but keep in mind that right now Amazon is focusing on getting the essential items out to people.

Hopefully, by May, things will be getting back to normal and you’ll get your movie at the right time. I just want to make sure you’re aware of a potential delay should the coronavirus pandemic continue later into the year.

This is certainly going to be a movie for the whole family to enjoy while we’re stuck at home. Those who played the original SEGA games will love the Easter eggs thrown in. Those who are new to the character or have just seen him mixed in with Mario through the Nintendo games or the cartoons will be excited to see him on the screen.

While critics have been mixed, the audience has loved it. I know this is a Digital release on our list for the end of this month.
