What it was about: The first on the list of movies turning 10 in 2020 is one based on a true story. I think the cast for this movie is often overlooked or forgotten about purely because of the topic. I can tell you that I know all about the movie, but I wouldn’t have been able to tell you who starred in it without checking. That’s not a fault on the actors, but due to the topic.

127 Hours was about Aron Ralston, who went hiking one day to end up falling and getting trapped with a boulder. His arm was wedged in and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get the boulder to move. With nobody around, Aron had to amputate his arm to get a chance of survival.

This is a contained movie, with hallucinations and flashbacks. It’s also one of those stories that serves as a way to teach a lesson. Always let someone know if you’re going to go hiking. Accidents don’t just happen in the movies!

9. Alice in Wonderland

Release date: Feb. 25, 2010

Directed by: Tim Burton

Starring: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas, Mia Wasikowska, Alan Rickman, and Stephen Fry

What it was about: Based on the Lewis Carroll novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Tim Burton’s movie brings a much darker and twisted tale. It’s nothing like the 1951 animated movie from Disney.

Alice Kingsleigh has been told for a long time that everything she saw in “Wonderland” was all a dream. At 19, she should be looking to marry, but when she sees a peculiar little white rabbit, she has to follow it down the rabbit hole. She finds herself in “Underland,” where she needs to fight the Jabberwocky to take down the Red Queen and restore the White Queen on her throne.
