2. The Martian

Released: Sept. 11 (TIFF), Oct. 2, (U.S.)

Directed by: Ridley Scott

Starring: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña

What would you do if you were trapped on a planet that had no way of living on? Would you just give up? Well, some might, but that isn’t the case for Mark Watney. When he’s trapped on Mars with no way of Earth getting anything to him before his supplies run out, he’s forced to adapt.

Fortunately, he has enough skill to be able to grow food, make water, and more. He builds an entire system to make sure he lives, but it’s not without its space-fueled challenges.

The Martian is a story of survival, of beating the odds. It will certainly hit you in the feels.

1. Spectre

Released: Nov. 6

Directed by: Sam Mendes

There’s one that needs to be put on this list considering one of the most anticipated movies coming in 2020. Spectre is turning five this year, and we’re about to get the 25th movie in the franchise in April.

This movie is a major one for the franchise. It brought us the new M, which wasn’t necessarily going to be easy for us to get used to after so many years with Judi Dench.
