By Mads Lennon
It’s the end of December and the beginning of January, which means Amazon Prime is adding a ton of films, both new and old, to its catalog. Find out what to watch this week!
This month, year, and decade are coming to a fast end. January 2020 looms just around the corner. To help you figure out what to watch on the last few days of the year, and the first few days of next year, we’ve compiled a handy guide to everything new dropping on Amazon Prime Video this week.
The streaming service will release three movies on Monday, two from this year and one slightly older entry. After that, Amazon will add a bunch of movies, including multiple Star Trek films, to its catalog on Thursday, Jan. 1. Since it’s the start of the new month, it’s normal to see streaming services add a bunch of new additions to their libraries.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
- Director: Michael Bay
- Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, and Patrick Dempsey
Yet another battle between the Decepticons and Autobots wages in the third installment of the Transformers franchise. This is the final film featuring Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon also introduces a new love interest in the form of Rosie Huntington-Whitely, who portrays Sam’s new girlfriend, Carly.
What Men Want (2019)
- Director: Adam Shankman
- Starring: Taraji P. Henson, Aldis Hodge, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Tracy Morgan
Released earlier this year, What Men Want follows Taraji P. Henson’s character, a sports agent named Ali Davis. Ali struggles to enjoy her day-to-day life at her job due to its male-oriented environment.
She consults with a psychic for advice and is persuaded to drink a weird potion. Suddenly, Ali is granted the ability to hear men’s thoughts, for better or for worse.
