There have been many wartime movies released. 1917 is the release for this year, but when will it be on Amazon Video, DVD, and Blu-ray?

Every year, we see movies set during either the First or the Second World Wars. This year, we’re focusing on World War I, with the movie 1917. If you don’t think you can face it in the theaters or you’ve watched it and now want to own it at home, you’ll want to know when 1917 will be on Amazon Video, DVD, and Blu-ray.

As a Universal Pictures movie, it’s possible to look at previous releases to get an idea of a date. The Secret Life of Pets 2 took two-and-a-half months to come to DVD and Blu-ray. Meanwhile, Yesterday took three months. I suspect that it will take the full three months for 1917 to come to DVD and Blu-ray, so we’re looking at Mar. 25, 2020 as a projected date.

What about Amazon Video? If you know you just want the digital copy, you’ll be able to land the release earlier. We’re looking at about one or two weeks before the DVD release, so the beginning of March.

This World War I movie sees two men head behind enemy lines. Their mission is to save 1,600 soldiers, and one of them is a family member. There will be an element of Saving Private Ryan since it concerns a family member, but this is more about the mission to prevent a battle that is destined to be lost if it happens.

The movie offers a standout cast including Colin Firth, George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, and Richard Madden. It’s not going to be one you want to miss.

Reviews from the critics have been excellent, which certainly isn’t always the case with World War I movies. It holds a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes and is Certified Fresh.
