1. Finding Joy

When you need a comedy with heart, Finding Joy is the place to turn. This Acorn TV original has a beautiful story underneath the laughs.

Striking Out‘s Amy Huberman created and wrote this series. She also stars as the quirky Joy, who is struggling to move forward after a messy breakup. The usually structured woman is forced by work to start looking for happiness in some of the most unusual places. And it certainly pushes her out of her comfort zone and sometimes leads to her bumping into her ex.

The Irish comedy reminds us that life isn’t perfect but it is what we make of it. It’s a sweet tale of a woman trying to come to terms with everything that’s gone “wrong” in her life, realizing that she doesn’t need to control everything.

Of course, it’s also a story about finding yourself. Joy is happy with her life the way it is until things don’t quite go the way she planned. When she’s pushed out of her comfort zone she realizes that maybe her life wasn’t everything it was cracked up to be in the first place.

There are two seasons of Finding Joy to binge-watch this weekend.
