If you have Netflix as well as Amazon Prime (hey, I do too!) then you’ve likely seen The King advertised. You may have even already watched it. Now you want to check it out without constantly having a Netflix subscription. Will The King be on Digital, DVD, or Blu-ray in the future?
Sometimes, Netflix Originals head to DVD. This is usually the case with TV shows, with the likes of House of Cards and Fuller House heading to DVD about a year after the show is released on Netflix. The movies don’t tend to head to DVD or Blu-ray, and that’s likely to be the case with The King.

Starring Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson, the movie is based on the four plays that tell the story of a young Henry, Prince of Wales and his journey to becoming the renowned Henry V of England. The King certainly has to cut things short, but it’s still enough to get the idea of the story, seeing him go from a man who doesn’t really want to be king to a man who leads the English army against the French through the Battle of Agincourt.
Most of the Netflix Originals that head to DVD and Blu-ray go there because of the production studios. Netflix was one of the main production studios involved in the making of this movie. Considering so many TV shows and movies leaving the streaming service because of the likes of Disney+ and HBO Max, Netflix will want to make sure there’s plenty of original and exclusive content on offer, and that means The King won’t head to DVD.
