When will Black and Blue be on Amazon Video, DVD and Blu-ray?

Black and Blue is one of the movies to check out in theaters this weekend. But whether you’re just too busy or you prefer to watch at home, you’ll likely want to know when Black and Blue will be on DVD and Blu-ray.

As a Sony Pictures movie, it’s possible to estimate the release date by looking at previous movie releases. We’ll look at Escape Room and Venom, but you’ll get many of the same dates and time frames if you look at others from 2018 and 2019.

It usually takes 2.5 to 3.5 months for the movies to go from theaters to DVD and Blu-ray. The exact timing will often depend on how well the movies are performing in the theaters or if there’s a certainly timing that Sony Pictures wants to work with. Venom only took 2.5 months, allowing for the DVD to be released ahead of Christmas. Escape Room took 3.5 months since the movie was released in January and there were no major holidays to work with.

Black and Blue will likely take three months or so to come to DVD and Blu-ray. I only say that because it’s late in the game now to get the release out in time for Christmas. We’ll be looking at towards the end of January or the start of February for the release.

As for Amazon Video, Sony usually releases the Digital version of their movies one to two weeks before the DVD release. We could see Black and Blue on Amazon Video during the middle to the end of January 2020.

Black and Blue stars Naomie Harris as a rookie cop who catches the death of a drug dealer on her body cam. She soon realizes that the ones who killed the drug dealer are dirty cops. Now it’s a race against time to get the footage into the right hands and protect her life.

Reviews are mixed for the movie. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 55% approval score so far from the critics. The audience results aren’t in yet since the movie isn’t out yet.
