Stephen King’s The Institute entered high on the list but would it be enough to displace Where the Crawdads Sing? Here’s the full Amazon books list.

The Institute was one of the newest books released in September, so it’s not surprising to see it on the list of most read Amazon books of the week. Would the new Stephen King novel displace Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing? Here’s a look at the full list.

King’s book, which has already been optioned for a TV series, tells the harrowing tales of children in a concentration camp of sorts. While it feels like it’s inspired by Donald Trumps’ detested detention camps, it certainly isn’t. Despite being released a week earlier, it’s only just entered the list of most read Amazon books, debuting in second place. You’ll want to check out the list for this week, though!

The Institute isn’t the only Stephen King book on the list, either. His novel IT remains on the list, linked to the release of IT Chapter Two earlier this month.

Another new book to debut well is Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments, which is the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. That made it to sixth place on the list, displacing some of the Harry Potter books, with one book losing three places. Speaking of The Handmaid’s Tale, as people start to get the new book, others are reading the original novel (either for the first time or again) to prepare.
