Will Ad Astra be on Amazon Prime Video?

Ad Astra is Brad Pitt’s latest movie to hit theaters. Will you be able to stream the movie on Amazon Prime Video as part of your Prime membership?

Brad Pitt is back in theaters this month with the space epic, Ad Astra. Whether you’ve seen it in the theaters or you’re just waiting to watch from the comfort of your own home, you may be thinking of the streaming service you need. Eventually, it’s going to be part of a streaming package. Will Amazon Prime Video be that package?

Sadly, no. At least, not yet. Due to licensing agreements, Amazon doesn’t have the rights to make it available to stream on Prime Video as part of your Amazon Prime membership. That doesn’t mean it will never happen but it’s going to take time.

However, there is a silver lining. Ad Astra will be available through one of the Amazon Channels add-ons. As a 20th Century Fox movie, you’ll see Ad Astra join HBO Now. That means you’ll be able to watch it with your HBO add-on.

When will Ad Astra be on HBO? We’re looking at six months at the very least. 20th Century Fox will want to make sure it’s had its theatrical run and been released on DVD and Blu-ray first. That usually takes three months or so.

You will be able to buy on Amazon Video before the space epic comes to HBO. If you can’t wait to see the movie, owning it on Digital could be worthwhile. Plus, you don’t have to pay the monthly fees to keep streaming.

Ad Astra starts 30 years in the past with Clifford McBride leading a ship and crew into deep space. They’re never heard of again, and now McBride’s son is heading off on the journey to get answers about his father. At the same time, he needs to find out more about the strange power surge that threatens the whole of humanity.
