Hilary Duff stars horror film The Haunting of Sharon Tate based on the Tate Murders. It is now available to stream on Prime Video.

Sharon Tate is on everyone’s mind right now between Margot Robbie playing the role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Hilary Duff taking on the iconic part in the horror film, The Haunting of Sharon Tate. You can now stream the latter move on Amazon Prime Video.

The movie is based on the infamous Tate murders. The “Tate murders” is the name given to the mass murder of six people conducted by the Manson Family (lead by the eponymous cult leader, Charles Manson).

Members of the Manson Family broke into the home of celebrity couple, actress Sharon Tate and director Roman Polanski. Sharon was pregnant at the time of her murder.

This isn’t the first time Hollywood has tried to capitalize on the tragic death of Sharon Tate. Wolves at the Door, starring Katie Cassidy, was also loosely based on the Tate murders. Similar to The Haunting of Sharon Tate, the movie was panned by critics for being exploitative.

Audiences enjoyed the movie somewhat better than critics did. If you’re able to separate the real-life tragedy from the film, it might be an enjoyable horror flick for you to check out, especially if you’re a fan of Hilary Duff.

For her portrayal of Sharon Tate, Duff won a Hollywood Reel Independent Award. The movie won for best horror movie at the same festival.

Aside from Duff, the movie also stars Jonathan Bennett, Lydia Hearst, Pawel Szajda, and Ryan Cargill. Ben Mellish plays the role of Charles Manson.
