When is Ophelia on Amazon Video, DVD, and Blu-ray?
Daisy Ridley’s Ophelia is already available on Amazon Video, just a week after the theatrical release.
Daisy Ridley has been a blazing media tour promoting her new movie Ophelia. The movie is a take on the Shakespearean character from Hamlet. While the film is currently out in select theaters, you can actually watch it now at home through Amazon Video.
When it comes to picking up the Blu-Ray or DVD, that information is not out yet. It’s likely it won’t be out on Blu-Ray and DVD until October, roughly three months after the theatrical release. Yet, with the digital video already being available, you won’t have to wait that long to see the movie now.

If you missed the English class where you had to read Hamlet, it focuses on the titular character who intends to avenge his father’s death. Ophelia is caught in the crossfire and is torn apart over Hamlet’s rage and madness. She goes mad herself but has been a side character that certainly deserved much better.
Up until now, we have only seen the play through Hamlet’s eyes. We haven’t gotten the perspective from Ophelia.
Having dealt with so many of her own issues such as being sent away from her family, used by the ruling powers, and her own father’s death, Ophelia had so much to deal with that no one took notice until she started babbling. Ophelia features the tale through her eyes and how she navigates the political world of Denmark.
The movie boasts an impressive cast with Star Wars‘ Ridley as the title character, Naomi Watts, Clive Owen, and George McKay. It hit theaters on June 28 with the digital release shortly after on July 2.
This makes for a great movie on a night in. While it has mixed reviews, it’s an ambitious take on a character that hasn’t had too much of the spotlight. Perhaps there was more to her than going mad over her heart getting broken.
