There are two new Scooby-Doo DVDs coming to DVD in June. Here’s a look at what to expect from The (Almost) Complete Collection and The Lost Episodes.

June 2019 sees the release of not one but two new Scooby-Doo movie collections. They’re packed full of excellent episodes, both old and new. This is certainly going to be one for the whole family.

Disclaimer: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of both DVDs I’m reviewing in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.

Scooby-Doo has certainly changed over the years. However, there are also elements that remain the same. The character development has never been messed around with throughout the cartoon versions. While voice actors have come and gone, we still have the same old Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, and Daphne.

And that’s a plus point for the movies. While the theme music is different – my two children were very quick to point out that they couldn’t sing along because they didn’t know the theme songs! – there’s still the same key, the similar images, and the same style. There’s no denying that young and old will enjoy these collections.

The movies are being released just in time for the 50th anniversary of the Meddling Teens first coming to our screens. And I can’t believe it’s been 50 years! There have been so many beloved episodes over the years, and now everyone gets to relive the magic, the exciting tales, and see some of the best legendary stars on screen again, including Batman and Robin and the Harlem Globetrotters.

The movies are all about 40 minutes long (they ran for an hour with commercials) and are from 1972 and 1973. They’re all the followup episodes from the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? series, which I know will bring back plenty of memories.

What can you expect in the two Scooby-Doo movies? There are two collections: The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection on Blu-ray and The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes on DVD. Both are available from June 4, 2019.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection

Over the years, there have been a number of guest stars in the episodes. We’ve had the likes of Batman and Robin work with the teens, Josie and the Pussycats need their help, and Dick Van Dyke show up in an episode. Davy Jones, the Harlem Globetrotters, and so many more have experienced life with the Scooby Gang.

You’ll get the chance to relive all those episodes in this collection. The Batman and Robin episodes have been my daughters’ favorites, but that’s because they knew who Batman and Robin are. And yes, it is fun to see the Dynamic Duo working with the Scooby Gang.

There are 23 movies in total to watch on the DVD and Blu-ray collection. They are as follows:

1. Ghastly Ghost Town – The Three Stooges
2. The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair – Batman and Robin
3. The Frickert Fracas – Jonathan Winters
4. Guess Who’s Knott Coming to Dinner! – Don Knotts
5. A Good Medium is Rare – Phyllis Diller

The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes

Not had enough of the guest stars? How about the episodes that seemed to have gone missing? Scooby has had many celebrity guests and The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes is a chance to bring them to life.

These episodes feature the likes of Sony and Cher, Davy Jones, Phyllis Diller, and many more. There are eight episodes available and you’ll definitely reminisce and enjoy with the whole family. My daughters didn’t understand who the guest stars were in this set of episodes, but that didn’t matter. It’s still the same old Scooby-Doo.

1. A Good Medium is Rare – Phyllis Diller
2. Sandy Duncan’s Jekyll and Hyde – Sandy Duncan
3. The Secret of Shark Island – Sonny and Cher
4. The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall – Davy Jones
5. The Phantom of The Country Music Hall – Jerry Reed
6. The Haunted Showboat – Josie and the Pussycats
7. Scooby-Doo Meets Jeannie (Mystery in Persia) – Jeannie and Babu
8. The Spirited Spooked Sport Show – Tim Conway

If that’s still not enough, there’s going to be more. To celebrate the Golden Anniversary, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is bringing the Best of Warner Bros. 50 Cartoon Collection – Scooby-Doo. I don’t have a copy of this to share what’s on it, but it will be available on July 30 on DVD and feature all the best episodes from the series over the years.
